The Bongo Board develops balance and coordination skills essential to most sports and daily activities. Skateboarders, snowboarders, and surfers will find that the Bongo Board helps to improve skills during the off-seasons.

Complete Exercise Guide Included

While your own creativity sets the limit, the included booklet offers tips and maneuvers to try and to master, ranging from basic to advanced. Be sure to start out using a spotter or support of some sort until you become accustomed to the movement of the board. Consult a physician before starting this or any other exercise program.

Benefits of using the Bongo Board

Balance - Static and Dynamic for enhanced sport and fitness participation.
Postural Awareness - To correct inefficient body movements with little physical effort.

Proprioception - The body's internal mechanisms for enhancing muscular movements that then call upon 'memories' stored in the muscles, bones and connective tissues to repeat a performance later on.
Kinesthetic Sense - Enhances ability to judge the position of your body in space.

Stability - Improve balance, reducing the risk of falls and injuries associated with various sports and everyday activities.

Mobility - Retraining the body to move impulsively and freely without limitation.

Body Awareness - Learn via feelings/stimulus created by the board to instinctively be aware of muscles, muscle groups and limbs as they work to stabilize the body.

Confidence - The direct result of learning body awareness through balance conditioning.

Visual Challenge: To challenge your balance recovery ability, try the following exercises. Attempt only when a high confidence level has been achieved on the Bongo Board.

Play with eyes open and eyesclosed during exercises.
When eyes are opened, explore the balance challenge of gently moving the head and neck up and down and then side to side.

To enhance performance try to stabilize the head, neck and upper body.
Focus vision ahead into the horizon, but soften your gaze to enhance the peripheral field of vision. How far to the sides can you see while focusing ahead?

Skill Progression: As you progress and gain confidence on your Bongo Board, you may like to try some tricks to further enhance and develop your balance coordination.

Thera-Band Exercise Ball

The exercise ball is a great tool for strengthening the abs, but it also helps you reach those hard-to-get-to muscles as well as improving your balance and overall coordination.

The numerous applications of the exercise ball follow a range of difficulty levels, and the benefits for back pain can be felt at each level. From merely sitting on the exercise ball to doing structured aerobic exercise routines, the basic support needed by the back and stomach muscles are the same.

For a person with low back pain, the exercise ball can be used for a variety of purposes. Some of the reasons the exercise ball is used are to learn proper posture, increase lumbar (low back) mobility, increase abdominal and back muscle strength, increase balance and stability as well as develop overall control and strength of the core body muscles.

As an introduction to exercising on the ball, it is often recommended that one simply sit on the exercise ball for 30 minutes a day and bounce lightly, continually finding and maintaining one’s balance on the ball. Another recommended first step on the exercise ball is to find a neutral (lordotic) lumbar spine position. Slouch slightly on the exercise ball, rounding the lower and upper back. Begin bouncing lightly on the exercise ball. Allow the body to automatically find the straightened posture, which promote staying balanced while continuing to bounce on the exercise ball. This balanced position on the exercise ball is also referred to as the center of gravity, where the upper body is balanced on a stable pelvic base.
Even a slight change in this neutral posture position will change the center of gravity and require a correction to stay on the exercise ball. The stomach muscles are required to work the whole time to keep this balanced, neutral posture.

Thera-Band Exercise Balls are inflatable balls used to strengthen muscles to improve posture and help prevent back pain. Each exercise ball comes with two plugs and an inflation adapter, along with the Thera-Band® Exercise Ball Guide Poster detailing 24 exercises. They are weight-tested to support 1,000 lbs. of static weight. Five sizes are provided to allow for user height variations.
